Setting provides a charming backdrop with old-world architecture and ample space for unwinding. The location serves as a great base for exploring the scenic Northumberland area, with iconic sights like Bamburgh within a reasonable walking distance.
Check-in process was delayed—after arriving just 25 minutes past the scheduled time, I waited an additional 45 minutes for my room. The bathroom had a loud fan that made it tough to enjoy some peace, and the temperature control in the shower fluctuated wildly. While there’s some appealing character in the building, it feels quite dated, with areas in need of a deep clean. Woke up to find dirty sheets and had trouble with reserved meals due to limited kitchen operations following a recent fire. Breakfast options seemed limited, particularly after I found hair in my coffee cup one morning—a surprise I could have done without. A few tweaks here and there could elevate the experience, though it’s not without its charm.

The food here is decent, with a nod to the likes of The Salmon Inn just a stone's throw away. The atmosphere is warm, and the staff are spot on. the cozy garden could be lovely given a wee makeover!
Evenings fall a bit flat with just a couple of pubs and a chippy that shuts early. Local shops are minimal, but it’s blissfully calming to unwind after a long day.

Great for a family getaway
We enjoyed having breakfast with our dog in the dog-friendly dining area, and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The cozy atmosphere made it feel like home. I loved that the rooms were comfortable and quiet, perfect for a family.
It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but still pretty reasonable.
